I bought this nugget icemaker and rec'd it two days ago. Here's what I've learned so far.Pros:a) Packaged really well. Unless someone really tried to destroy it, it should come in just fine. Nice job!b) Easy to take all the pieces out, clean and put back together (hint: there aren't many parts, which is nice!)c) They say ice in 6 mins... True but not enough to use. lol My attached video shows this. However, in 20 mins there was enough for one cup. Give it an hour and it'll be about full. It'll auto turn off as the ice gets stuck coming out of the chute so it thinks it's full but it's only about 2/3 full. That's fine. All ice machines will do this. Several glasses worth in an hour.d) Very compact and pretty light.e) Pretty quiet. You can hear it but there is a lot going on inside to create the ice. It's not loud enough to be a bother.f) Delicious nugget ice! No complaints on size or taste!g) Easy to drain, dry off and put away.Cons:I can't come up with any. How long will it last? That's the real question. Only time will tell.Overall, here was my goal. I just wanted to use it for a day, bag up a bunch of ice, drain and dry and put it away until I needed more ice.The reason for this goal was this... My first nugget maker was the GE Profile 2.0. Almost $600. I ran it 24/7 (I use a lot of ice). This was a mistake. Running it that much wore it out too quickly and also dirtied it up too easily. There was no good way to clean it other that hoping the "clean" setting actually did clean it. Well, it didn't. I don't think any can. You can't take any of them apart enough to make sure there isn't black gunk growing in all the guts of the machines. This nugget maker is easier to get too. The top lifts off and you can actually see the inside water tank and the big front tank and clean them both. Much better and a third of the price. Will it make ice as fast? Heck's no. Can I make ice for a few hours and bag it up and put in the freezer? Heck's yeah.I'm going for price now. I'll make ice, clean up the machine and put away for a week.So far, this is a great buy!!
To be honest, I bought this machine to replace a $400 Mueller unit that the company replaced once, was a beast to keep clean, and eventually turned into a boat anchor. I figured if I only spent $150 on this Euhomy model and it didn’t hold up, it wouldn’t be that expensive to replace. I really didn’t have very high expectations but I waited to write a review until I had time to live with the machine. It’s been six months now. It has performed perfectly and we use it daily. It makes great pellet ice – soft and crunchy. Compared to the Mueller, it is small and does not take up much counter space. It is also pretty quiet in normal operation; although, it can get louder when it needs to be refilled. It makes ice very quickly - which is a plus because the ice bin itself is small. This machine would not be suitable for a large household but there are only two of us. We use large water bottles throughout the day so it is possible to fill up a water bottle with ice and empty out the ice bin. But it refills itself quickly so there is not much of a wait for the next person. (If they’re desperate, they just get ice out of the refrigerator ice maker.) The machine itself is easy to clean once you get the hang of the drain plug being on the bottom. The only real negative is the manual. The directions were so conflicting I wasn’t sure exactly how to clean the machine. I had to email them for clarification and to be honest, I really didn’t expect much of a response. But to my surprise, a real human emailed me back with an updated manual and clarified the questions I had. They even followed up after they sent the email to make sure I did not have any further issues. I truly did not expect that level of Customer Service. To be frank, the revised manual still needs work but it was an improvement and answered my questions. So, normally I would give this product four stars but because of the response from Customer Service I’m giving it five. Hope the machine continues to hold up!
This is truly a very nice ice machine for two people. The ice bits are small which is great for adding to bottles with small openings. If you like being able to chew your ice this is perfect. It 'initially' took a little less than an hour to fill the ice basket. It holds enough to add to a couple of glasses or bottles at a time but it fills back up really fast once it has been totally refrigerated. We always have more ice waiting when we go back for more. It lets you know when it needs more water added with a red light. It's very easy to refill, just lift the ice basket and add water to the full line. There is a plug on the bottom if you accidently add too much water and need to drain the water tub. Like most people we have an ice maker in our fridge but we have heavy mineral content in our water line that doesn't produce a quality tasting ice. We installed a 6 filter Reverse Osmosis system under our sink with a separate tap for good tasting drinking water. We use the RO filtered water to fill our Ice maker for great tasting ice. We have been using it for over a month and really do like it. It does make some noise while creating the ice but it's not that loud. The machine doesn't give off any heat to speak of. If you like being able to chew your ice this is perfect.
18 Month Update: I have had this Ice Maker for 18 months now. We run this product most Weekdays throughout the day. I have very impressed with the durability of this product given how much I use it on a weekly basis. Due to their Great customer service, I also picked up an air fryer that works exceptionally well. Highly recommend this brand and this product.***************I was growing tired of not having enough ice in our house. We are not filling large coolers and didn’t want to install a waterline and walk to the garage every time I need ice. We do have multiple kids playing sports and my wife and I keep larger water bottles for hydration during the day. We needed more ice, but not a commercial ice maker in the. I was looking for a machine that would fit under by cabinet on the counter garage and didn’t want to spend $500 plus for the extra ice. I wanted as much capacity and production capacity in a small space. I also love small nugget ice that I get at some restaurants, and I get larger cube ice from my fridge. In our house the machine runs a lot during the day, because we all prefer this chewable small cube ice over the larger cubes. The machine makes noise because it has a compressor to cool the water. I like that I can hear it so that I know when it needs more water, or I need to empty the ice tray. It is a low hum when it is running. If you keep it full of water and off load the ice this thing can produce a lot of extra ice. It fills up surprisingly quick. When we are home we run it all day. Cleaning is extremely easy, and doing so keeps the ice flowing. We have sported every weekend it seems, we always have ice for our small coolers. This crushed Ice is great because it fills small cracks and gives you maximum surface area on what you are trying to cool down.I had a minor issue with my machine. I contacted support and got prompt answers and they are a great help. It is so refreshing working with a small business that stands behind their product and want to ensure that you love their product. There is a reason they have so many high reviews.Tips/Notes- Don't bother buying the fancy amazon cleaning solutions. Run the clean cycle with vinegar, drain, then run the clean cycle with water to flush, drain, and back to making ice.- As with every ice maker, it will think it is full before it is truly full. You can either transfer it at that point or move it from the middle and allow it too full up.- The ice bin is slightly insulated, but it is not a freezer. The ice will eventually melt back to the water tank below and keep re-making the same ice. Try not to burn up electricity and the machine by trying to run it 24/7.- We run it while we are home and transfer the excess to the freezer. Then turn it off when we leave.- Since the ice is not made and stored in a freezer, it is not what I would call hard frozen. So, you cannot just dump it to your ice tray in the freezer because it will clump. I fill up a gallon bag and then once it is hard frozen I move to my ice tray. Steady flow of ice now.
I have never had an ice machine before, and did not know what to expect. After our fridge's ice machine died, I needed a replacement, because buying ice was getting old really fast, and I chose this company and machine based on 1). the praise people have for this nugget ice (and we do like to eat our ice), and 2). The brand Euhomy seems to have a reputation that people like (and I now agree with). As for the ice maker itself, what a great machine! It looks nice on the counter, and for its size has not too large of a footprint. It produces ice steadily and quickly, maybe taking about 2 hours to fill the included basket. There's no assembly aside from a handle and simple cleaning before using an appliance for the first time. I run it for about 4 hours and put all the ice in the freezer. This gives my family roughly two days of ice. I do not run it non-stop because I want the machine to last as long as possible. The ice is the nice chewy kind, which is the entire reason that I chose this machine over something cheaper. The machine isn't noisy, but you can definitely hear it, which is another reason I wouldn't leave it on all the time.I would like to add that Euhomy has just about the best customer service that I have ever dealt with. They, as a company and brand are amazing, with great representatives who took care of me quickly and professionally for an issue that I had (caused by Amazon's shipping).I'm very pleased with both this product and this brand.
